What is Magic Draft?

Magic Draft is a way to play Magic the Gathering with 3 booster packs. Four to eight players sit around a table holding three unopened packs. When the judge says to start, the players open their first pack and look at their cards. They pick one of their cards and pass the rest to the left. All cards are passed around the circle of players until everyone has 15 cards.

The second pack is now opened and the procedure is repeated, this time to the right. Everyone should now have 30 cards. Finally, the third pack is opened and the procedure is repeated once more with the pass going back to the left. After the three passes, each player will have 45 cards.

Players then make their decks with the cards they have. They can ask for as much land as they want but must make a deck that has at least 40 cards.

Players then play a single elimination tournament. After the tournament, players keep their commons and place all rares and uncommons on the table, face up. Players go in order choosing the rares and uncommons they want to take home with them.

The order of choice is determined by the players' standing in the tournament. (i.e. winner gets first pick, second place person gets second pick, etc). All players should leave with 45 cards.
